India and China are set to renew direct passenger flights by late October 2025, marking a constructive step towards normalizing journey and enhancing bilateral relations.
The choice follows months of technical-level discussions between the civil aviation authorities of each nations, the Ministry of Exterior Affairs stated.
“Since earlier this 12 months, as a part of the Authorities’s strategy in the direction of gradual normalization of relations between India and China, the civil aviation authorities of the 2 nations have been engaged in technical-level discussions on resuming direct air providers between the 2 nations and on a revised Air Providers Settlement,” MEA stated in a press release.
The resumed flights will join designated cities in India and China, aligned with the winter schedule, and can proceed as soon as all operational and business necessities are met.
“Following these discussions, it has now been agreed that direct air providers connecting designated factors in India and China can resume by late October 2025, consistent with the winter season schedule, topic to the business resolution of the designated carriers from the 2 nations and fulfilment of all operational standards,” MEA added.
The federal government believes that this transfer is anticipated to strengthen people-to-people ties and contribute to the gradual normalisation of bilateral exchanges between the 2 nations.
