NYC mayoral candidate Brad Lander handcuffed by ICE

New York Metropolis Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was detained Tuesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement brokers as he was escorting a defendant out of immigration court docket, his spouse stated in a press release.

“Whereas escorting a defendant out of immigration court docket at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked brokers and detained by ICE,” Lander’s spouse, Meg Barnette, wrote on X.

Video of the incident reveals Lander standing outdoors a courtroom when he’s approached by officers, together with some sporting masks.

Lander repeatedly asks the officers to indicate him a judicial warrant earlier than he’s handcuffed, per the video posted by Barnette.

Lander remains to be in custody as of early Tuesday afternoon, Barnette stated throughout a press convention after the incident.
