Meta forming new AI lab helmed by Scale AI CEO Alex Wang, report says

Meta is forming a brand new synthetic intelligence analysis lab and bringing on Alexandr Wang, the founder and CEO of the startup Scale AI, based on The New York Instances.

The analysis lab goes to pursue an idea often known as “superintelligence,” which is an AI system that surpasses human intelligence, The New York Instances reported Tuesday. Meta can also be in superior talks to take a position greater than $10 billion in Scale AI, based on a report from Bloomberg.

Scale AI declined to remark. Meta didn’t reply to CNBC’s request for remark.

The reported analysis lab is Meta’s newest effort to realize an edge within the fiercely aggressive AI growth area. Meta has been pouring billions of {dollars} into the know-how, asserting plans to spend as a lot as $65 billion in capital expenditures for AI infrastructure this 12 months. 

Late final month, Meta introduced that its AI assistant helps one billion month-to-month lively customers throughout the corporate’s household of apps. In February, CNBC reported that Meta was planning to debut a stand-alone Meta AI app in the course of the second quarter and check a paid-subscription service akin to rival chat apps equivalent to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
