The appointments fill three current vacancies within the Supreme Court docket, which arose as a result of retirement of former Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, and Justices Abhay S Oka and Hrishikesh Roy.
Three new judges have been appointed to the Supreme Court docket on Thursday. The Supreme Court docket Collegium had earlier, on Monday, advisable the elevation of Karnataka Excessive Court docket Chief Justice N V Anjaria, Gauhati Excessive Court docket Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi, and Bombay Excessive Court docket’s Justice A S Chandurkar to the apex courtroom.
Legislation Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced their appointment on X.
“By the authority granted underneath the Structure of India, and following session with the Chief Justice of India, the President is happy to nominate Justices (i) N V Anjaria, Chief Justice of the Karnataka Excessive Court docket, (ii) Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati Excessive Court docket, and (iii) A S Chandurkar, Choose of the Bombay Excessive Court docket, as Judges of the Supreme Court docket of India,” he acknowledged.
