GORAKHPUR: All poultry retailers in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh have been requested on Saturday to close for 21 days following detection of avian influenza strains, H5N1 and H9N2, in chook samples from 5 localities within the metropolis.Samples have been taken at Jhungia Bazar, Aluminium Manufacturing unit space, Taramandal, Bhagat Chauraha, and Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan Zoological Park. All reside birds inside this zone shall be culled and disinfection drives are underway there.The CVO appealed to the general public to not heed to rumours and to cooperate with the administration.
