Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated within the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that surveys had been sanctioned for preparation of DPRs for brand spanking new traces between Machilipatnam and Narsapur (74 km), Repalle and Bapatla (46 km), Gudur and Vijayawada (4th line measuring 293 km), and Vijayawada bypass (Indupalli-Duggirala – 49 km) to enhance connectivity within the area.
Aside from this, a survey for development of a forty five.30-km-long new railway line between Machilipatnam and Repalle had been sanctioned to supply direct and shorter connectivity between the 2 cities.
“The survey is underway for the sake of preparation of a DPR,” he stated in reply to a query requested by Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry.
The Union Minister stated Machilipatnam and Repalle had been already linked by way of Vijayawada Junction on the prevailing railway community, and the doubling of Machilipatnam-Gudivada-Vijayawada line had been accomplished not too long ago, and it could enhance the connectivity to Machilipatnam port.
Mr. Vaishnaw stated, as on April 1, 2025, 39 initiatives (12 new traces and 27 doubling), protecting a complete size of 4,498 km falling absolutely / partly in Andhra Pradesh and costing roughly ₹70,231 crore, had been sanctioned. Of them, 1,179-km of traces had been commissioned and an expenditure of ₹28,039 crore incurred as much as March 2025.
