5 guide ophthalmologists of Sankara Nethralaya — Veena Baskaran, Suganeswari G., Niveditha Narayanan, Dhanashree Ratra, and CK Parameswari — have been just lately offered the Elizabeth Blackwell Award for excellence in educating by the Ladies Ophthalmologists Society and Ladies Ophthalmologists Worldwide.

Honorary senior ophthalmologist on the hospital, Lingam Gopal, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Vitreo-Retinal Society of India.
