President Draupadi Murmu arrived at Air Drive Station in Haryana’s Ambala on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) morning and shall be taking a sortie in Rafale fighter jet.
Rafale jets had been used throughout Operation Sindoorlaunched by India in response to the April 22 dastardly Pahalgam terror assault,
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh was amongst others current on the event.
“The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, will go to Ambala, Haryana tomorrow the place she is going to take a sortie in Rafale,” a press release issued on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) by the Rashtrapati Bhavan had stated.
On April 8, 2023, Ms. Murmu, the supreme commander of the Indian armed forces, turned the third President and second girl head of the state to take a sortie in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter plane on the Tezpur Air Drive Station, Assam.
Former presidents APJ Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil had undertaken sorties in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter plane on the Air Drive Station, Lohegaon close to Pune on June 8, 2006 and November 25, 2009, respectively.
Manufactured by French aerospace main Dassault Aviation, Rafale fighter plane had been formally inducted into the Indian Air Drive in September 2020 on the Air Drive Station, Ambala.
The primary 5 Rafale plane, which had arrived from France on July 27, 2020, had been inducted into 17 Squadron, the ‘Golden Arrows’.
The Rafale jets had been utilized in Operation Sindoor, which was launched on Could 7 to destroy a number of terror infrastructures in territories managed by Pakistan. The strikes triggered 4 days of intense clashes that ended with an understanding on stopping the army actions on Could 10.
