Safety forces destroyed practically 18 acres of unlawful poppy cultivation in Manipurr’s Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts, police mentioned on Saturday (November 22, 2025).
“A mixed workforce of district police, Assam Rifles, forest division, and Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) carried out an operation in D. Lhangjol village beneath the Sangaikot Police Station limits in Churachandpur on Friday (21, 2025),” a senior officer mentioned.
“Round 8 acres of poppy cultivation, which is predicted to yield about 40 kgs of opium, was destroyed through the operation,” he mentioned.
“Safety forces, in collaboration with the Tengnoupal district administration and the Machi Forest Division, additionally destroyed practically 10 acres of poppy plantation on Friday (November 21) within the Machi hill vary,” the officer added.

The State authorities had beforehand issued warnings towards individuals engaged in widespread poppy planting, which triggered the clearance of vegetation in hilly areas and the devastation of the ecosystem of the hills.
