A case has been registered towards a person for allegedly pouring scorching fish curry on his spouse’s face following a dispute over performing black magic in Kollam district of Kerala, the police stated on Thursday (October 30, 2025).

The sufferer, Rejila Gafoor (36) of Vaikkal close to Chadayamangalam, has been admitted to the hospital, whereas her husband, Sajeer, is absconding, they added.

As per the FIR, the incident came about round 10 am on Wednesday. Sajeer allegedly requested Rejila to loosen her hair, sit in entrance of him, and permit him to use ashes and to tie a locket given by a black-magic practitioner, the FIR stated.

When she refused, he allegedly poured scorching fish curry on her face whereas it was being cooked within the kitchen of their rented home, FIR stated.

Listening to her screams, neighbors rushed to the home and took her to the hospital.

The police stated Sajeer believed his spouse was possessed and had attacked her a number of occasions up to now. Earlier, Rejila had approached the police after being assaulted by him.

Though he was warned then, he later started consulting black-magic practitioners, officers stated.

Rejila informed a TV channel that her husband incessantly visited an individual in Anchal who carried out black magic and suggested him to use ashes and tie a locket on her physique.

She additionally alleged that he usually attacked their son.
