Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) nationwide normal secretary PK Kunhalikutty has described the hijab controversy at St. Rita’s Public Faculty at Palluruthy, Ernakulam, as a “disgrace on secular Kerala.”
Addressing the media in Malappuram on Saturday (October 18, 2025), Mr. Kunhalikutty mentioned that “some divisive forces” had been attempting to gas the problem, and that was why the celebration avoided responding till now.
“However we can’t stay silent on it any longer. Incidents of such intolerance are on the rise in Kerala. It’s a disgrace. Unhappy that it has led to the termination of a woman’s schooling,” mentioned Mr. Kunhalikutty.

Mr. Kunhalikutty mentioned that every one sections had been working faculties within the State, and if one part is allowed to take care of such an illiberal stance, others will start to observe.
“Now we have maintained a give-and-take coverage amongst totally different sections, upholding liberal views in direction of different teams. The hijab concern shouldn’t be permitted to deepen societal divisions,” he mentioned.
