In a direct problem to the Left Democratic Entrance, CPI(M) insurgent and former Kara North department secretary C. Vaishak filed his nomination as an Unbiased candidate in Ward 36 of Payyanur municipality on Thursday.
Mr. Vaishak, a former DYFI regional vice chairman, broke away from the social gathering, alleging negligence by native leaders amid extended factional tensions within the Kara area. The ward, beforehand held by the CPI(M), has been allotted to the Congress(S) this time. P. Jayan is the LDF candidate.
In the meantime, the CPI(M) Kannur district committee has expelled Mr. Vaishak for anti-organisational actions.
