Clashes erupt throughout Ram Navami procession in Bengal’s Murshidabad, safety tightened


Rigidity gripped Jangipur in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Friday (March 27, 2026) after clashes broke out between two teams throughout a Ram Navami procession, police stated.

The state of affairs turned risky after an altercation through the procession escalated into violence, with either side throwing stones at one another and vandalising property within the space, a senior police officer stated.

Safety forces, which have been deployed in massive numbers to deliver the state of affairs below management, have been conducting route marches and sustaining vigil within the affected areas, he added.

“The state of affairs is now below management. Satisfactory forces have been deployed, and patrolling is ongoing to make sure peace and normalcy. We’re carefully monitoring the state of affairs and can take strict motion towards these concerned within the violence,” the police officer advised. PTI.

In the meantime, authorities have urged residents to take care of calm as safety has been tightened throughout the area, a senior official on the State Secretariat stated.
