RAIPUR: A weird case of a foster household allegedly making an attempt to “defend” a younger girl from a suspected molester by locking her in a room since she was eight has come to mild in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar after officers reached their residence to rescue her from what had been her jail for 20 years.The orphaned woman, now in her 20s, barely responds when her title is known as, has severely impaired eyesight, and seems traumatised after years with out publicity to daylight, open air or social contact, stated Sister Clarelit of Gharaunda Ashram at Korchuli close to Jagdalpur.Bastar collector Harish S advised TOI the social welfare dept is probing her compelled confinement “as a case of potential legal negligence, illegal detention, and violation of human rights”.“Officers are questioning her members of the family and probing the circumstances that led to such extended confinement… We are going to provoke motion as soon as the report is filed,” he stated.Sources within the division quoted the lady’s foster household as saying they feared she can be sexually assaulted by an unidentified younger man within the neighbourhood who had allegedly been after her. They claimed he was a routine offender who would have focused her if he noticed her outdoors.Medical findings point out slim possibilities of her regaining full eyesight. “Excellent news is she is slowly studying to reply, & stroll with help,” Sister Clarelit stated.
